To obtain a highly precise toe measurement, first jack up the front wheels and scribe a true running line on the face of the tires. Then, position the gauge in front of the tires and align the pointers with the scribe lines. Next, move the gauge to the rear of the tires and align the fixed end with the scribe line. Loosen the thumb screws on the other end and slide the pointer until it aligns with the opposite scribe line. The exact toe-in measurement can now be read directly from the scale. This quick, easy, and accurate process can be done with the scribed line positioned anywhere on the tire face.
